I put an offer in on a short sale - how long will it be before I know if it accepted?

Since a short sale is more in the current owners hands, and getting thier documents to prove financial hardship to the current lender, the answer to that question is....WHO KNOWS. I would only recommend going after a short sale with a short sale agent that has contact with the current owners lender. The reason - I have seen people wait over a year to get a response to the bank, to finally find out the current owner is not allowed to short sale and they end up foreclosing on the house. Your offer on the house does not matter to the bank unless they allow the short sale for the current owner.
